Becoming socially conscious was never pre-planned. I didn’t set out to ‘better serve my community’ or anything like that. It just happened, or should I say, has just begun…
Both my fiance and I have been moving fast towards a socially conscious life. It all began about 18 months ago when we started practicing attachement parenting with our son – the hardest thing we’ve ever done! Since then we’ve started buying organic, locally grown food to complement our paleo lifestyle. Jil also makes her own face wash, moisturisers, cleansers, etc. There’s even talk about knitting… The list goes on.
The biggest news – and point for this blog post – is about the new contract I’ve recently taken. The Ministry of Social Development has asked me to help create new technology to combat Mental Illness. Although my plan is still in development, the end goal is to create a new organisation where high school and university students can create sustainable technology solutions to combat youth mental Illness. (Still working on my elevator pitch).
This is by far my proudest working decision. I’m honoured by the challenge bestowed upon me, and deeply motivated by our potential to disrupt Mental Illness.
